I strongly oppose this proposal. Ontario’s provincial parks are meant to be protected — not carved up to serve private interests. Opening the door to development within Wasaga Beach Provincial Park sets a dangerous precedent and undermines the integrity of our park system.
This park is not just a recreational space — it is critical habitat for species at risk, including the piping plover, which has only recently begun nesting here again after decades of absence. Any fragmentation or commercialization of this land directly threatens their survival.
The role of a provincial park is to preserve biodiversity and offer a refuge for Ontarians to connect with nature, not to serve as real estate for short-term economic gain. I urge the government to withdraw this proposal and reaffirm its commitment to protecting natural spaces for future generations.
