I strongly oppose the proposed removal of 645 acres from Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. This park is an ecological treasure, providing habitat for endangered species and attracting over 1.3 million visitors annually to enjoy the world’s longest freshwater beach.
Changing the law to make it easier to sell protected parkland to developers undermines Ontario’s commitment to environmental conservation and public access to natural spaces. Provincial parks are vital for protecting biodiversity, supporting wildlife, and offering recreational and mental health benefits to millions.
I urge the government to preserve Wasaga Beach Provincial Park in its entirety and reject any amendments that would open protected lands to development.
Thank you for considering my concerns.
