Removing land from a protected conservation area is scientifically, environmentally, and economically unsound. Given escalating climate change impacts, including natural disasters, it is irresponsible to remove natural features which protect human infrastructure from storm waves and floods. Furthermore, this goes directly against Canada's goals to conserve and protect lands, especially ones which house endangered species, as Wasaga beach does.
Though increased development may result in some minor, short-term advantages for certain land owners or residents in the area, long-term impacts will be negative for all. As a resident of Ontario, and frequenter of many provincial parks, I strongly oppose this development.
