I am very disappointed that our government will be handing over a provincial park to the town of wasaga beach. For years we have taken our family and used the provincial park as you can barbecue there, it is a quieter section of the beach away from the masses on beach one and ideal for families. Better behaviour (smoking, drugs and language) is better for kids. It is also less crowded which makes it easier to keep track of children. We will enjoy it this year and then find another place to go should this plan go through. Not to mention the environmental protections a provincial park offers.

It seems to me the desire here is for Cancun of the north. I have been to cancun and I will hard pass on this. I am guessing it won’t be long until land is cleared to build an airport etc. I am certainly guessing the area won’t be used for the provincial priority of more affordable housing.

Wasaga beach is a jewel in Ontario. Progress can be good and revitalizing the area is fine. It has long been an area for those that can’t afford a vacation in Toronto or Muskoka or Niagara on the lake. I can see that this soon will be a place for the affluent and they really don’t need another playground.
