Piping Plovers are slowly making some gains in their populations in recent years after having lost so many of their previous breeding grounds. Wasaga Beach is one of the very few places they will breed and even their few breeding places require volunteers there to monitor and ensure their survival. Losing Wasaga Beach and leaving it open to development undos all the work that has been done to help these birds survive for future generations. So not sign over Wasaga Beach to the township. It is a death sentence for these birds.
