Piping plovers are a crucial for the environment and must be protected. I strongly reject the proposal to transfer ownership of Wasaga Beach to the Town of Wasag, as it critically endangers this species. The ownership of the beach must remain in Ontario Parks hands and under the protection of the law. Note that one of the Departmental Priorities of ECCC in 2025 and 2026 is to conserve Canadian biodiversity - this proposal strongly goes against the Government of Canada's priorities to protect ecosystems from development and ensure the healthy right to the environment.
