Hello,
I would like to voice my objection to the proposed legislative amendments to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006 and Historical Parks Act to support the town of Wasaga Beache's tourism enhancement proposal (ERO number 025-0694).
Beach areas 1, 2 and New Wasaga include an environmentally sensitive relict beach and nesting areas for the ENDANGERED Piping Plover. Ontario Parks has done a wonderful job at creating a good balance between the protection of the breeding and nesting areas of the Piping Plover and recreational use of Beach areas 1, 2 and New Wasaga. I believe those beaches should remain with Ontario Parks as I do not believe the Town of Wasaga would put the protection of the ENDANGERED Piping Plover over profit. I don't believe the Town of Wasaga would consider the environmental impact of building on these lands. I believe their concern only financial and so I don't believe they would concern themselves with the protection of these ecologically sensitive areas and the animals who rely on these areas for breeding and living.
Ontario Parks, by protecting these beaches and creating a good balance between environmental protection and public recreational use, has had the most successful breeding and nesting site in Ontario for the ENDANGERED Piping Plover. Ontario Parks is who should be looking after these lands and protecting them not only for the ENDANGERED Piping Plover and other shorebirds, but also for people to enjoy.
Don't put profit before the enviroment. Leave Beaches 1, 2 and New Wasaga in the hands of Ontario Parks.
