Our family strongly opposes the transfer of lands from Wasaga Beach Provincial Park to the town of Wasaga. Once these protected lands are transferred, they are gone forever. This fragile ecosystem needs the oversight, financial support and protection from our provincial government for the endangered species they support and for the continued enjoyment of future generations. The current transfer of park lands to the town of Wasaga has been placed in the hands of developers. Developers are there to make money, not to protect and support this beautiful natural area. While the mayor promises the beach will remain public, what is entirely unclear is how the public will access the beach. Without access (public parking and public walkway access) the use of the beach will be limited to hotel guests and condo owners. I don’t understand why this government sees financial opportunity in our beautiful provincial parks while the world is in the grips of a climate crisis. This government should be doing all it can to preserve and protect these parks that belong to the people of Ontario. Stop the dismantling of our park. The people of Ontario demand better. First the Greenbelt scandal. Then the ramming through of Bill 5. Now the destruction of our provincial parks. Shame on all of you. Do the right thing.
