Piping Plovers are worth protecting. They have very few breeding grounds left in the country — don’t destroy a key one in the interest of a temporary bump in tourism. The province’s efforts to scale back protections for endangered species wasn’t enough?! Oh, and these ones are protected federally, so you can’t deregulate your way out of this one. The decimation of a rare breeding ground for an endangered species is in no way worth a slight uptick in tourism
