Please, we residents of Alton Ontario, most impacted by ongoing quarry and fill operations, are begging you to look at the cumulative impact of your actions when considering this application. This isn't about just one "fill" operation and its potential impact on groundwater, the environment, the Credit River system and the Headwaters Region but instead ALL of what is being allowed to proceed in this area. Quite an impact when you see them all on the map of the area. Please take a look at the bigger picture! Allowing this fill, and a similar application for another located nearby, combined with the Town of Caledon attempting to move forward on a similar fill application for 0 Shaws Creek Road, cannot be allowed to proceed. This, in one of Caledon's tourism areas, next to a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, and Headwaters of the Credit River. The cumulative effect on area WATER is dangerous. The resulting traffic from literally hundreds of trucks per day, travelling already overburdened roadways puts every single resident and those who travel through the area, at grave risk. The damage to the environment, including in this lakes and surrounding land that have already REHABILITATED and are now home to a variety of flora and fauna as well as species (including at risk species) is downright SHAMEFUL. Caledon, Ward 1, does not want to be a dumping ground for Toronto GTA dirt but more specifically, there are more appropriate places this dirt can go that won't impact the environment, our groundwater supply and species at risk. Stop the degradation now. Please look at the map and recognize this entire area of Caledon is at risk. This is not a decision that can be made in isolation but must be examined as part of the overall impact to our region.
