As a local and long-time rock climber, this is very exciting news! The proposed inclusion of rock climbing as a sanction activity at Devil's Glen will ensure climbing for future generations in a sustainable and managed way. Outdoor climbing has brought much joy and a change in lifestyle for me by better connecting with the environment and appreciating all that mother nature has to offer. As a climber, I understand that we are currently the largest user group at Devil's Glen. As such, climbers are great stewards to the area by practicing Leave No Trace and leaving minimal environmental impact. Furthermore, a designated parking lot on the south side of Highway 124 would make it safer for all park users to access the park and not have to cross the busy road. This is a huge step forward for climbing in Ontario which has generally fallen behind with access and support for climbing compared to other provinces in Canada. My heartfelt thanks to Ontario Parks for this change in proposal and to the Ontario Alliance of Climbers for their hard work.
