I think that Beach areas 1 and 2 would best be maintained and protected by remaining part of the provincial park system, rather than being sold to the Town of Wasaga Beach.
The Town has a history of fractious local politics and disagreements on how best to develop the commercial areas of Beach 1, and there are concerns about potential cronyism and self-interest influencing decisions on how to develop beach 1. So I think there would be similar concerns if the actual provincial park beach areas were also governed by the Town. I also worry about the ability of the Town to adequately protect endangered species like the plovers which nest on beach 1 and 2–since this would usually fall under the mandate of the province.
