Wasaga Beach needs to be left alone as a Park and as a Historic Park, period. It took years to address the issues caused by profiting from that beach, and it cannot be opened up again just for money. Wasaga Beach cannot accommodate the exposure that will happen with the removal of those protections, and the “profits” will be eaten up in no time with the expenses of clean up, repair and waste management. By the time the province takes its dues from the money received, Wasaga Beach will not only not be profitable, it will become a rundown ruined shadow of what it is, because nobody will be responsible for maintaining anything other than their own property, and the damage and debris inflicted on the remaining property will run the municipality into debt.
This is an ill-considered longterm problem hastily scrabbled together to resolve a short term problem and it is a terrible idea. Leave Wasaga Beach alone.
