I strongly oppose the proposed amendment to the Provincial Park and Conservation Reserve Act. These areas are designated not only for their ecological and cultural significance, but also for the long-term benefit of public access, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience. Stripping protections from these lands sets a dangerous precedent, prioritizing short-term development interests over the lasting value of natural heritage.
Provincial parks are among the few remaining spaces where ecosystems can thrive relatively undisturbed. Removing land from this designation threatens irreplaceable habitats, of endangered species.
I urge decision-makers to reject this amendment and uphold the integrity of provincial parks for current and future generations. Provincial Parks need to be protected.
