I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed sale of approximately 645 acres of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park to private developers.
This land, representing one-seventh of the park, contains critical dune ecosystems and sensitive shoreline habitats. It is also Ontario's most visited provincial park. The sale of public parkland threatens both environmental integrity and public trust.
This proposal also goes against the Government of Ontario’s commitments to climate resilience, biodiversity protection, and public access to nature. The land is currently protected under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, and its removal from public stewardship would be a significant and irreversible loss.
I urge the Ministry to reject any proposal involving the sale, rezoning, or removal of land from Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. I also request that the Ministry uphold its mandate to protect Ontario’s natural heritage and prioritize ecological health and public interest over short-term economic gain.
