Wasaga Beach should not be transferred to the Town of Wasaga. Vital conservation efforts are needed to restore and maintain populations of piper plovers that nest there. Municipal governments are not allowed to run deficits. They are not designed, nor do they have the funding or means, to implement and run large conservation programs. Conservation is and should remain with the provincial government and this is one if the big reasons Wasaga beach should not be transferred or sold.
Biodiversity is necessary for healthy ecosystems which we humans are a apart of. Biodiversity is being lost due to building and climate change. Please, as a government, keep Wasaga beach and focus on conservation.
Thank you!
