Proposed legislative amendments to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006, and Historical Parks Act is deeply concerning. This sets an awful precedent for the future of our provincial parks. There is already a legislative approval process in place within the PPCRA to dispose of lands greater than 50 hectares, or one per cent of the total park or conservation area. This suggests it will not stop at Wasaga Beach.
Environmental protections are being eroded in this province in favour of corporate interests. Bill 5 and the Greenbelt scandal are examples of how this government is eroding democratic principles, disregarding Indigenous rights and shutting Canadians out of decisions
Tourism is important but not when you remove the environmentally significant places that make our province and our country so special. I hope that you will fight to protect the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, to protect public park land over corporate interests. Please use your power in Queens Park.
What can I as an individual do to make sure the ecologically significant areas in my area are not sold to developers?
