I am extremely concerned about the proposed transfer of land from Ontario Parks to the Town of Wasaga. Under our Provincial Park system, the land was protected from commercial development and was a habitat for many important species like the Piping Plover and was protected for future Ontarians through the Parks system. The Town of Wasaga is focused on their economic future not the environmental impact of any development of this land. This is a short sighted decision that will result in long term damage to a precious Provincial space. Without lands like these available, the future of our native species (birds, animals, insects, plants, etc) are put at risk. If we do not leave space for other species to live, we put our own futures at risk too.
