Please consider the environmental impacts of this proposed transfer. The piping plover especially is an endangered species whose prime nesting place is along this beach. Destroying their habitat for development would have a devastating effect on their populations, and a beautiful, unique, and iconic species will one step closer to extinction. With the rapid rate of species decline, we should be doing everything is our power to preserve the diversity that’s left and to protect natural habitats.
Please think about the value that access to parks, beaches, and outdoor spaces adds to a community, how spending time in nature is one of the best ways to reduce stress, lower anxiety, and ease symptoms of depression. The health of a community is much more important than the wealth of a community, wouldn’t you agree?
I beg of you to reconsider your proposal. I truly believe you can find a more impactful way to help your community.
