Government's priority should be to add more land to Ontario's protected areas, particularly in southern Ontario where the amount of land currently being protected is a fraction of what is needed to protect nature.
Removing land from protection should only be considered if a parcel does not meet any of the objectives for Provincial Park system. As the lands proposed for removal from Wasaga Beach PP have very important natural and cultural heritage values and also have wonderful recreational and educational opportunities, it is imperative that they should continue to be public protected lands.
Development can still happen if the community is on board and if it makes economic sense through intensification and enhanced use of other lands.
