Myself and so many in Ontario are terrified of the thought of our provincial parks being put up for sale. The fact that this is being seriously considered by some people in power is so concerning–if huge parts of the iconic Wasaga Beach is sold and no longer protected, what's going to happen to the rest of Ontario's provincial parks? Are they going to become ecological wastelands just to fill a few millionaire's pockets? If the goal is to kill our tourism industry, let alone the diverse ecosystems that are keeping us alive and healthy, then sure. Time after time the Canadian government, provincially and federally, is making decisions that only benefit the wealthy, benefitting people like Doug Ford himself. This is more obvious than ever before, and we'll only put up with so much.
The proposal itself is clearly not thought-out and very vague. Absolutely no details on how this land will be "protected" if it were suddenly transferred into new hands. This is so transparently an embarrassing cash grab, and it is disheartening to think that our government believes we are misinformed enough to believe this proposal will make our lives better.
