I am adding my voice to many who are greatly concerned about the disruption to Piping Plover nesting sites that is likely to take place with the development proposed at Wasaga Beach. Not only do we boast the longest fresh water beach in the world, but this site is one of only a few successful nesting sites for the endangered Piping Plover. Years of careful management at Wasaga have seen some significant growth in the numbers of fleglings reach maturity. It would be devastating to have these efforts wiped out due to development along the beach front. These sites need to be protected from beach raking, removal of sand dunes and the drfitwood habitats that afford the Plovers the best posible breeding success.
