I strongly oppose the proposed legislative amendments. Ontario parks belong to the people of Ontario, not municipalities like the Town of Wasaga Beach. Beaches are more than sand and opportunities for tourism dollars. They are home to wild life that is rapidly disappearing from Ontario because of rampant development and complete disregard for Nature.
Wasaga Beach council may know tourism, but they do not have the scientific knowledge or interest in preserving the beach ecosystems to ensure the fragile sand dunes and endangered Piping Plovers who call the area home are both protected and conserved.
The Ontario Conservatives should focus on protecting wild spaces, not selling them. I will boycott the Town of Wasaga Beach if the proposed legislative amendments are approved.
I oppose the proposed amendments with every fiber of my being. Our provincial parks are sacred. They should never be sold. Do not touch our provincial parks.
