Wasaga Beach is known for its expansive and publicly accessible waterfront beach area, which is its major tourist draw. This beach is overwhelmed with people throughout the high tourism season. Selling off more than half of its waterfront will detract from its value as a tourist destination and push people to other waterfront destinations. The sale of prime, public waterfront lands is in direct opposition to the goal trying to be achieved, which is to support economic development and the growth of the local tourism industry. I am deeply opposed to the proposal to sell off these lands.
