Provincial parks are essential to the enjoyability of the community spaces I was raised in. Without access to spaces like this, Wasaga Beach being one I frequented through my teenage years, It makes it harder for Ontarian’s to feel a sense of pride in where they live. If everything is for sale, what is left for us to enjoy or be proud of?
I think that privatizing parkland is a slippery slope that will only lead to further destruction of what makes Ontario so special, its diverse and thriving natural environments, places where Ontarian’s can interact with nature in a nondestructive way.
Our tourism marketing speaks to being able to “discover ontario”, but there’s nothing to discover in condos and developed land. We need to protect spaces like this and think about preservation now more than ever.
Don’t be dumb, the future of this country falls on my generation to manage and correct, try to leave us in good shape, for the love of god.
