Driving tourism and improving the Wasaga economy is a terrific goal however the decision to do so must take into consideration the larger picture and long term effects on the beings with whom we share our environment.
Removing the protections of excellent piping plover habitat in favour of tourist dollars at the expense of this species is yet an example of capitalism at the expense of the environment we also inhabit. This mind set is what has driven such great cumulative losses of healthy ecosystems and species on our Earth.
It’s time to see the bigger picture and do the right thing. Protect the Piping Plover habitat as a first priority. Explore other options to improve tourism in Wasaga that are not destructive to them. I’m really tired of this human centric, capitalist mindset which in the bigger picture degrades the environment which we share with the Piping Plover.
Stop the greed. Respects the Earth and all of her beings.
