I strongly oppose the sale…

I strongly oppose the sale/transfer of provincial park land from the province to the town of Wasaga Beach. Under provincial parks this land is protected as it should be. Wasaga Beach has unique natural heritage features such as dunes and endangered species which will be in jeopardy if this transfer goes through. This system of parks was established to provide access to a world class beach for the public - visitors and residents alike. Contrary to what the mayor says, the parks in Wasaga were not a failed experiment - they have enriched countless lives for many decades by providing people with the ability to enjoy the shade of beautiful mature trees while being able to access the beach. These parks, as do all natural spaces in Ontario, support the mental health and well being of people. This transfer benefits developers and will limit access to the average person. Trees will be cut and the natural beauty further destroyed. The argument that the beach will remain public means nothing if you can't get to it.

Lastly amending the legislation to allow this de-regulation opens the door for further de-regulation of our parks both within Wasaga and across the Province. This is a very slippery slope and one that is most definitely moving our province in the wrong direction.
