I strongly oppose removing 60% of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park from protection.
My family has a long tradition of visiting this beach, sharing its beauty with tourists from across Ontario and beyond. Its sanctuary is priceless—home to endangered piping plovers, vital sand dunes that protect against erosion, and provincially significant natural features.
We have long prevented private cottage owners from harming wildlife on their waterfronts; how can we now allow the opposite for our public beach?
This proposal weakens the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, bypasses safeguards, and sets a dangerous precedent for all Ontario parks. Once lost, these lands and their ecological, cultural, and recreational value can never be restored.
Wasaga Beach is cherished by the people of Ontario. Keep it intact for future generations.
