The Ontario Government must ensure the conservation and protection of Piping Plovers through a science-based management plan and adequate resources. This plan should include the following:
1. Year-round measures to reduce threats to Piping Plovers and their habitats, such as restricting mechanical raking to prevent habitat destruction, prohibiting dune alteration, and implementing fenced buffer zones and natural predator mitigations to protect nests.
2. A commitment to funding initiatives that protect, conserve, and steward Piping Plovers, their nests, and their habitats.
3. Engagement with experts, such as Birds Canada, during the development and implementation phases of these initiatives.
