The proposal to open a hunting season on Double-crested Cormorants is bizarre and should not occur. There is no scientific evidence to support such a hunt. In addition, this is not a sporting proposition and there is no requirement to use the birds that are shot. A daily limit of 50 birds is an indication that this is designed to be a cull, not a sporting proposition. It should be required that each cormorant shot should be eaten by the shooter. I am adamantly opposed to this crazy proposal.
