I'm writing to strongly oppose the proposed amendments to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act (PPCRA) and the Historical Parks Act (HPA) that would allow protected land in Wasaga Beach to be sold or developed.
This land is for everyone, not for private interests or short-term profit. It exists to protect nature, history, and public access, not to be handed over to developers under the excuse of “economic growth.” Once you privatize or develop these lands, they’re gone forever and so is the clean air, biodiversity, and natural space that belong to all Ontarians.
Every time there’s a tourism “boost,” the environment suffers, and so do the people who live nearby. More traffic, noise, pollution, and loss of habitat follow while locals lose access to quiet, natural places and are left dealing with the fallout.
Leave the protections in place. This land should stay public, protected, and natural not sold off.
