As a lifelong Ontario resident, outdoors enthusiast, and provincial park user for over 35 years, I am very disappointed Ontario is considering removing parklands from provincial management and protection. The park system is set up to protect our beautiful natural areas and allow all Ontarians access to these wonderful spaces. Absolutely do not make these park law changes which do not benefit the park areas or the people of Ontario.
Ontario already has significantly developed tourist areas and does not need further tourism development at the cost of provincial parks. This is particularly true in South Western Ontario were there is a limited amount of public lands. Only a short drive from Wasaga Beach is the heavily developed Blue Mountain area, so there is not a need for aggressive development and higher tourism traffic.
I want my 1 year old and my child due in Nov 2025 to be able to grow up visiting and enjoying Ontario provincial parks as much as I have. Please do not make this mistake of changing our beautiful Ontario parks.
