Wasaga Beach is one of four …

Wasaga Beach is one of four (known) piping plover nesting grounds left in all of Ontario. They're an endangered species of bird and losing a quarter of their reproduction sites and, arguably, their best one would be detrimental. Piping plovers are such unique birds that deserve to be able to live and regrow their numbers. A loss of such a crucial habitat could make them extinct in our lifetime.

I've gotten to learn more about plovers over the last couple years, thanks to a friend who works in their conservation. As someone who's never been to Wasaga Beach (yet) in his life, I'd much rather come to birdwatch plovers and enjoy the untouched nature of the beach. The day I go to Wasaga, I'd like to be able to see the piping plovers living happily, send pictures to my friend and let them know they're doing great work helping those little birds.

People aren't the only ones using our parks; animals live there full time and they deserve to keep their homes.
