As a resident of Wasaga Beach, I strongly oppose the proposed transfer of park land to the municipality. This land is a critical public asset that safeguards valuable natural resources, including sensitive ecosystems and the water system that feeds into Wasaga Beach’s freshwater areas. Freshwater resources are among the most vital assets we have. They support biodiversity, filter and replenish our drinking water, regulate climate, and provide recreational and economic benefits for our community. Once park land is transferred, there is no guarantee it will remain protected. Municipal control could open the door to development pressures, pollution risks, and reduced public access. We must keep this land under provincial stewardship to ensure the protection of its ecosystems, water systems, and natural beauty for current residents, future generations, and the health of our environment. A decision to approve this proposal will impact the environment and constituent's already broken trust in the provincial government's decisions regarding protected lands.
