Thank you for sharing the proposed amendments to the Devil's Glen Management Plan.
As an avid rock climber and visitor to Devil's Glen Provincial Park, I strong support the proposed amendments, including the proposal to acquire the adjacent parcel of land, the updated zoning classifications, and the inclusion of rock climbing as a permitted and managed activity within the park.
I believe the Plan would benefit from a couple amendments with respect to rock climbing:
1) Greater clarity on the extent to which existing climbing areas and routes fall within the Natural Environment Zone versus the proposed Nature Reserve Zone. Figure 3 in the Plan does not provide sufficient detail in this regard. I would strongly support the inclusion of existing climbing areas in the Natural Environment Zone where low-intensity recreational use is permitted.
2) On page 24 (Climbing Practices), the terms "free climbing" and "slack-roping" should be amended to "free solo climbing" and "slacklining" respectively, for consistency with common usage in the climbing/outdoor community.
These proposed amendments are an exciting development for the climbing community and users of Devil's Glen. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
