This is a gross NIMBY initiative for the benefit of a private corporation. The MZO would be completely inappropriate in this case. The government should not be in the business of rewarding NIMBY demands of a corporation, especially when that would restrict construction of 1,000 new homes. The project includes affordable housing and has gone through the appropriate review process. Should this MZO be issued, expect media scrutiny over what could have possibly influenced the decision making of the government official that benefited a single corporation counter to the needs of a population in dire need of affordable housing.
