These proposed changes are extremely harmful to the beauty that is the nature of Ontario. So many people travel all over Ontario and the natural areas just to be surrounded by nature. Getting rid of provincial checks to fast track development will permanently remove all natural areas and cause less people to visit the northern areas of the province, which are the most beautiful parts.
I strongly oppose putting economic growth ahead of species protection.
Scientific findings should not be politically vetoed. Evidence based protection, determined by qualified scientists, should be protected.
Don't narrow the definition of 'habitat,' recovery depends on future restoration zones.
Bring back mandatory recovery plans. All species need long term strategic plans, not short term fixes.
Reinstate the Advisory Comittee. We need more oversight, not silence.
Reverse the exclusion of aquatic species and migratory birds. They deserve political protection too and are vital to a healthy and secure ecosystem.
Stop the exemption of permits from public comment. Transparency is not negotiable.
