As a resident of Richmond Hill, I believe it is imperative that we protect our green spaces, especially in environmentally sensitive areas like the Oak Ridges Moraine. I am concerned that Bill 66 weakens the legislation in place that protects green space and curtails sprawl. Maintaining the Greenbelt is an important way for us to rein in GHG emissions and curb the impacts of climate change. There is still a lot of developable land in the GTA without opening up the Greenbelt, increasing development on the Oak Ridges or threatening Lake Simcoe and the wider watershed of our region. We do not need Bill 66 to be competitive.
