I work in the financial district and take bike lanes to work everyday, 40 mins each way. The bike racks at work (one of the large bank buildings) are always almost full. It shows how many people use bikes to commute to work. Bike lanes are reducing traffic by giving people alternatives to driving or even streetcar stuck in traffic. If the objective of the government is to reduce congestion is to build more bike lanes. You'd be surprised by the number of people riding bikes even on the coldest day.
Most bike users are not activists, we're just trying to get to work on time and go about our day, and save a ton of money by doing so.
Please give back the right to municipalities to build bike lanes, you won't regret it in the long term. You'll reduce congestion and save us money.
