I oppose the proposal to limit the creation of new bike lanes in the province as bike lanes are a critical part of our transportation infrastructure in urban areas in Ontario.

All members of my family ride on the bike lanes near our house; I ride to work daily 10 months of the year, and our children ride to school. Bike lanes separate us from the dangers presented by cars, and make it easier for us to get around safely. The bike lanes in our neighbourhood are extremely well used and represent an inexpensive and quick way to get around. Bike lanes reduce the overall traffic on the roads and the strain on our public transit system.

There are currently some great bike lanes in our city, but many areas are not accessible via bike lanes, so we should have the option to add more lanes in the future. At the moment our city is dominated by cars, we should consider planning approaches that make it easier to get around without needing to drive.

Thank you.
