My family relies on cycling to get around this city. We regularly visit countries round the world- and all the most vibrant, exciting and successful cities prioritize pedestrian and bike lane systems. Doug Ford's proposals are the direct opposite and belong back in the last century when we didn't know better and didn't always look at the data. Save lives, improve lives, improve Toronto by expanding biking and pedestrian laneways.

It is enraging to think that Doug Ford's personal preferences could influence away from how Torontonians want their city to be developed. It is enraging to me he would waste taxpayer dollars in all the ways he has. A majority acknowledge climate change is a menace- how dare he not lead for what Ontarians and Torontonians want based on his personal ignorance.

Destroying safe bike lanes endanger Ontario lives - how dare Doug Ford threaten the safety of our citizens.

Good points to remember:

It strips cities of local authority and decision-making, even when projects are supported by evidence and local residents.
It will worsen traffic congestion, not reduce it. The government’s own experts have consistently said that bike lanes are not a cause of gridlock.
It will make roads more dangerous. Protected bike lanes prevent serious injuries and deaths for people biking, walking, and driving.
It threatens other uses of road space that communities rely on, including transit priority, safe crossings, patios, curbside access, and school streets.
It undermines climate goals and public health by locking cities into car-dependent street designs.
