To those who want to take away the bike lanes — maybe take a trip to Copenhagen before making that decision. There, bike lanes aren’t just paint on the road; they’re part of a thoughtful, well-designed system that makes the city safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable for everyone — cyclists, drivers, and pedestrians alike.
Copenhagen has shown that when you build proper bike infrastructure, people use it. Traffic moves more smoothly, pollution drops, and communities become more connected. Parents can safely ride with their kids, older adults can stay active, and fewer cars mean quieter, friendlier streets.
Instead of taking bike lanes away, we should be improving and expanding them — making our city more forward-thinking and accessible. Taking a lane from cars and giving it to people doesn’t divide us — it builds a healthier, greener future.
