This proposal is bad for business, and it’s bad for the working people of Ontario.
The workers of the 21st century don’t want to have to spend $5,000 a year on gas, maintenance, and insurance to maintain cars. A story: I ran an 80 person office for a large tech company in Toronto for several years. We had 8 parking spots, on a first-come, first-served basis. In the years I ran the office, we *never* had a single complaint about a lack of parking for cars. But, can you ever believe that we had complaints that we didn’t have enough bike parking!
By reducing bike infrastructure, you’re imposing a $5000 a year tax on every working person. Stop the Ford Car Tax!
Turning Toronto into a 20th century motoring Mecca is a huge step back. If we want to attract and retain the world’s best talent, we need to behave like one of the world’s best cities. Please, please, stop trying to turn back the clock and making us the laughing stock of the modern world!
