This bill is a needless overreach of provincial authority into municipal decision-making. Cities and local governments should have the freedom to design streets that reflect their residents’ needs.
By banning the reallocation of road space, Bill 60 will discourage sustainable transportation, increase car dependence and make worse the very gridlock it claims to reduce.
The Province should empower municipalities to improve safety, transit and mobility—not restrict them.
