Hello,

I am horrified by Bill 60's ban on bike lanes. I live in Toronto and commute to work every day (year round!) on a bike, and unfortunately most of my route is without bike lanes. What should be a safe, healthy, and eco-friendly way of getting around the city is a daily scary ordeal, in particular for me the busy Queen, Dundas, and parts of College without a bike lane. I've nearly been doored countless times, cars drive too fast and stop and turn suddenly. There are cyclist deaths and injurys every year when there should be zero. Bike lanes are a vital piece of infrastructure and keep cyclists, pedestrians and drivers safe. It encourages more people to bike, which keeps people off of the roads and lowers congestion. It is also more economical for cities as bikes take up much less room on our streets, moving more people quickly and bike parking is a fraction of car parking!

I also grew up biking in rural lanark county, Ontario. As a teen I would bike to my job at the convenience store, forced to cycle on the rough gravel on the side of the road that cars frequently went 90+km/h on. It was a scary, unpleasant experience. I felt safer walking, but not by much, considering there wasnt a side walk. There's lots of room, there's no reason why a bike lane couldn't be built. Both living in Urban and Rural homes, bike lanes would be welcomed.

I am also a driver, and welcome bike lanes. It's easier to drive with bike lanes, I don't like having to watch out for bikes on the road with me all the time! I often like to imagine how many of those cycling could be in cars and how much worse that would be.

Arguing that bike lanes cause congestion is a bald face lie, the government’s own experts have said multiple times that bike lanes are not a cause of traffic. This ban is a waste of time and money, dangerous, bad for people and the earth.
