Removing endangered and at risk species from the endangered species act is stepping backwards in regards to our protections of the environment. We're already living in a world with mass extinction, and losing biodiversity does not benefit our future. In fact is rushes us further into our own species demise. Building a better country should never be at the destruction of our world or our children's futures. For those futures to be safe we need to protect the species and ecosystems that we've already done so much harm to. We need to move towards a world where we no longer see the planet as a tool we can abuse and extract from, but a place that we are a part of. The health of the earth is reflected in the health of the creatures that live on it (including ourselves). Much like the bodies gut flora, our planet needs high biodiversity, with each creature filling different roles in their ecosystem.
In short, I oppose these changes. Repeal Bill 5. Restore protections for nature, which ultimately protects us and our future!
Thank you
