There is no time for fanciful greetings when our lives are at risk because of greed and selfishness. The economy will not benefit from this bill; it will simply collapse once the natural resources supporting us are ruined by our greed. Our forests, freshwater, and grassland ecosystems will not simply renew themselves after we’ve pushed our technology and desire for some extra cash through them. The land will not come back to life, the wildlife will not thank us for destroying their habitats and driving them to extinction, the earth will not accept an apology once we have destroyed all that we have left. The scientists and educated citizens will not forgive you for destroying our homes and the environment that takes better care of us than a money-hungry government ever could. The generations to follow us will use us as examples for what to avoid doing, if they even have safe land to live on once we’re done with it.
You are not a representative if you only care about the 2% who benefit from your selfishness. Listen to your communities, listen to the people who actually live around nature—not in high rise buildings, knowing nothing but concrete—and hear what we are saying. We are telling you to not destroy our lives more than you already have. Don’t let your fantasy of temporary money distract from our job as stewards of the incredible land we have in Ontario. For God’s sake, don’t screw this up for the rest of us; re-implement our protections for the environment and stop trying to pull the blinders over our eyes while your pockets fill up and the rest of us starve.
Again, there is no time for charades,
Do the right thing. Stop killing our Ontario.
