Province of Ontario, I beg of you, please do not move forward with this bill. I am not only writing in my capacity as a cyclist, who will undoubtedly be affected by this bill, but also as a citizen of Toronto. If this bill is passed, cyclist and pedestrian deaths will continue unabated throughout the city and other municipalities throughout the Province. It's utterly reprehensible that our lawmakers are even considering the possibility of prohibiting the addition of bike lanes. It is clear where the Province's priorities lay, and it's not with the safety of Ontarians.
If the Province were actually serious about reducing traffic, they would encourage cycling and all the infrastructure around it, not continue to uphold the hegemony of automobiles on our streets.
