Exceptions to the SCA (activities allowable without registration or permit) should only be permitted for actions that have been proven to not negatively impact at risk species or their habitat (including plant and animal food sources). This exception should not be used to further environmental degradation or the development of nature areas-- if development is to be undertaken, the habitat of the species must be retained and incorporated into the plan for the area. Furthering the economy through continuous development and degradation has not yet solved any issues for Canadians, it has only destroyed the wildlife and habitats that make the landscapes of Canada so diverse, beautiful, and attractive to tourists (another way the economy is supported). Do not continue to use the excuse of the economy to allow for unregulated development. There are many other ways to ease the housing crisis (one of the most major issues facing Canadians). For example, reinstate caps on rent increases on properties purchased after 2018, allow for multiple, non-related or married people to own property together, allow for co-operative housing areas. Choosing to develop when there are many other options only shows that the governments priority is enriching developing companies and not helping their people.
