As a science professional working in this province, I am concerned with the apparent weakening of our species at risk protections in the name of speeding up development. Species at risk are at risk for a reason. Most often that reason is related to human-caused alteration or destruction of their critical habitats. We are part of a ecosystem; not the ones who decide which other species are worth protecting and which are not. Everything has a role in the ecosystem. Knock-on effects can be devastating. Please reconsider weakening our environmental protection laws and stand up for our shared environment.
